Bluffton Self Help

Who We Are

We are a nonprofit agency located in Bluffton, SC that assists Bluffton residents with free food, clothing and emergency financial assistance. We were founded by Mrs. Ida Martin in 1987.

What We Do

Provide free food distribution four days a week:  currently 9:30 am to noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday afternoons.  Residents of Bluffton receive a swipe card permitting them to access food distribution twice a week.

Free clothing (up to 10 items per week) is also available to Bluffton residents in need.

Emergency Financial Assistance is provided to residents who show a source of income, proof of residency, a documented crisis (car repair, medical emergency, etc.) once a year.  Clients requesting assistance more than once are required to attend a financial budgeting workshop prior to being considered for additional assistance.

Educational Financial Assistance is also available for clients interested in post-secondary education.  For more information on any of these programs call Bluffton Self Help.

Bluffton Self Help also provides volunteer opportunities and rely on over 130 volunteers to run the programs.  Persons interested in volunteering should contact Nancy Meyer at nancy@blufftonselfhelp.org.
